The invention relates to a guiding device 1 with balls, the cage 6 of which device is produced from a helically wound strip 8. The strip 8 is prefabricated and has the openings 9 for the balls 7 for guiding the outer part 2 and the shaft 4 relative to one another. The lateral edges 15, 16 are joined together discontinuously by welds 14. The cage 6 can additionally be provided with a back-up ring 17, which is supported on the end face 18 of the cage 6 and the supporting surface 21 of which serves as contact surface for a compression spring 19, the other end of which is supported on the supporting surface 20 of a stop 22 for returning the cage 6 into a central position or starting position.
