A water treating device comprising a water tank for storing untreated water, an electrolytic tank for sterilizing untreated water by a electrochemical decomposition by energizing an electrode set consisting of at least two electrodes, a water treating route for introducing the untreated water to the electrolytic tank from the water tank and refluxing it to the water tank after sterilization in an electrolytic tank, a residual chlorine sensor for measuring the residual chlorine concentration of untreated water prior to introduction into the electrolytic tank, and a control means for controlling the electrochemically decomposed amount of untreated water in the electrolytic tank based on a residual chlorine concentration measured by the residual chlorine sensor to keep the residual chlorine concentration of water refluxed to the water tank within a specified range, characterized in that a branching route is provided that branches from the portion of the water treating route upstream the electrolytic tank to allow untreated water to flow out, conducts the untreated water to the residual chlorine sensor to have it measure untreated water for residual chlorine concentration, and discharges the measured untreated water into the electrolytic tank. Since the above arrangement returns untreated water having the residual chlorine concentration thereof measured in the branching route to the electrolytic tank, water is not wasted. In addition, since untreated water returned to the electrolytic tank is returned the water tank after sterilized in the electrolytic tank, no unsterilized untreated water is returned to the water tank.
|
