PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously distribute coolant to a laser gain medium and a diode laser coolant channel, while being detached from a diode laser array by cooling the laser gain medium arranged in a ceramic housing constituted of alumina, and making the temperature distribution of a lower face and an upper face to be uniform. SOLUTION: A solid-state laser gain module 20 pumped by a diode laser has a ceramic housing 22, formed by alumina. Alumina has a high heat conductivity, makes a thermal gradient to be minimum, has low coefficient of thermal expansion and makes thermal input to the housing 22 to be minimum. A laser gain medium 24 is oriented to a vertical direction in the laser gain module 20 and has an upper face 26, a lower face 28, facing main side faces 30 and 32 and the facing end face. A coolant flows on the main side faces 30 and 32 of the laser gain medium 24 in a longitudinal direction. The optical output of the diode laser array is tuned by the active-type absorbing line of the laser gain medium 24, attains high pumping efficiency and minimizes harmful thermal effects. |
