The prefabricated sectional building may provide residential or office accommodation etc and has a modular subframe of metal sections supporting cladding panels. Transverse portal frames of lattice roof girders (15) bolted to hollow rectangular section posts (11) support wall sheeting rails (34) and ceiling joists (32). The construction provides a circulatory air-cavity between internal (60) and external (43, 40) cladding systems. Site connections may be made by bolting through to internally threaded sleeves incorporated in the posts (11). The roof girders may have box sections top chords (15) with 'U' section bottom chords (17) and welded bar web-infill (18). 'U' section ceiling joists (32) may be notched onto the bottom chords (17), and the purline (26) may be fixed by inclined stays. The posts (11) may be fixed to a 'Z' section which constitutes a permanent edge-shutter to a concrete floor slab.
