摘要 PURPOSE:To provide a degradable buried material requiring a period between a few months and a few years before the loss of mechanical strength and the disappearance of the material itself due to hydrolysis in an organism by using poly (beta-or gamma-hydroxyl alkanoate) as a main component having the predetermined value of number-average molecular weight. CONSTITUTION:A material buried in an organism is constituted of poly (beta-or gamma-hydroxyl alkanoate) as a main component having number-average molecular weight between 10000 and 200000. In this case, the number-average molecular weight is particularly taken between 30000 and 100000, and the poly (beta-or gamma-hydroxyl alkanoate) is made available from ionizing radiation, heating, or acid or alkaline treatment. Furthermore, the poly (beta-or gamma-hydroxyl alkanoate) is a fermented or chemical compound using microorganisms. This compound is degradable to a suitable extent in an organism and, therefore, drops in mechanical strength in a period of approximately one to three years. Thus, it follows that the compound substantially functions as a degradable buried material in an organism.
