PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording material, ensuring the positive availability of an image with outstanding light resistance when color printing is performed as well as a method for manufacturing this material. SOLUTION: This material on which data are recorded by ink jet comprises an ink receiving layer containing powder, a binder and aluminum nitrate and a support for supporting the ink receiving layer and is characterized in that the density of the aluminum nitrate contained in the ink receiving layer becomes gradually higher from the contact face of the ink receiving layer with the support toward the opposite face to the contact face.
