PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding apparatus capable of preventing the surface roughness and a shape error of a workpiece.SOLUTION: The grinding apparatus includes: a workpiece spindle for rotating a workpiece around a rotational axis at a desired rotational frequency; a tool spindle for rotating a grindstone for grinding the workpiece; movement means to which the tool spindle is fixed, for moving the grindstone at a desired feed rate in a direction orthogonal to the rotational axis; and a controller for controlling the workpiece spindle and the movement means so that: the less the distance from the rotational axis to a point where the grindstone and the workpiece come in contact with each other, the greater the rotational frequency; the less the distance from the rotational axis to the point where the grindstone and the workpiece come in contact with each other, the greater the feed rate; and the less the distance from the rotational axis to the point where the grindstone and the workpiece come in contact with each other, the greater the area of contact between the grindstone and the workpiece in a unit time.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
