PURPOSE:To provide the captioned inexpensive printing wire having a resistance to wear as well as toughness, by composing the printing wire such that onto the surface of a matrix containing carbon is formed a more harder carbide layer. CONSTITUTION:Onto the surface of the matrix 1 of metal containing carbon such as carbon steel is formed the carbide layer 2 of vanadium carbide, titanium carbide, chromium carbide or niobium carbide to constitute the printing wire 3. If the printing wire 3 is used for a longer period, the wear would not enlarge the configuration of the roundness of the tip, and further the tip will become a concave shape so that the printed quality will be kept favorable at all times. |
