PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional image display method and a three- dimensional image display device which can be easily made into a multiple-lens system without using special spectacles, can switch a three-dimensional image into a two-dimensional image being made thin in thickness. SOLUTION: In this method, a light source means 200 in which unit light emitting blocks arranged in light emitting blocks in q places which do not mutually belong to the same row or the same column of a matrix of q rows and q columns when a parallax number p is defined as p=q×r are arranged in a longitudinal/lateral matrix, a lateral cylindrical lens array 300 and an image display device 400 are prepared, and a luminous flux emitted radially from each light emitting unit 211 is made to pass through a display surface in a horizontal cross section with the width or more for p pixels is converged on the display surface every (q-1) pixel in a vertical cross section by the lens action of the array 300 and is scattered vertically, thereby forming observation areas capable of visualizing horizontal parallactic images different for every longitudinally adjacent strip area.
