PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a backup device and a backup method capable of improving the cost performance of a storage device. SOLUTION: A backup volume the total capacity of which is equivalent to the total capacity of at least an on-line volume is prepared, and the storage area of the prepared backup volume is partitioned in the same number of partitions as at least the online volume.
