发明名称 IMPROVEMENTS IN AND RELATING TO MULTI-CYLINDER INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES WITH FUEL INJECTION
摘要
1,235,523. Regulating I. C. engines; rotary meters. SULZER BROS. Ltd. Nov. 11, 1968 [Nov. 10, 1967], No. 53331/68. Headings F1B; F1F. In a multi-cylinder I. C. engine having a fuel injection system, fuel is delivered to the injectors through lines each containing a respective fuel flow measuring device. Thus the fuel delivered to each injector is measured so that corrections can be made to equalize the respective fuel-flows to the injectors. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 9, fuel is supplied from a pump 2 through a pressure regulator 3 and lines 4, 5, 6 to cylinders a, b, c. The lines 4, 5, 6 each contain a fuel flow measuring device 7 and an electromagnetic fuel injection valve 9 which is cyclically opened for a given period. Signals from measuring devices 7 are passed through leads 30, 31, 32, converters 111 which convert the signals to D.C., and leads 112, 113, 114 to a correction controller 110. After a time lag the latter produces corrective output signals by comparing two of the input signals with the remaining one, Fig. 10 (not shown), or by comparing each input signal with the average of the input signals, Fig. 11 (not shown). The corrective signals are delivered through leads 109 to adding members 107 which also receive signals from a controller 105 in which a signal representative of a variable, e.g. an engine speed signal delivered from a tachometer 101, is compared with a reference signal delivered through lead 15. The superimposed signals are delivered from members 107 to pulse generators 108 to adjust the open period of the valves 9, the commencement of opening of the valves 9 being initiated by pulses delivered through leads 104 from a pulse transmitter 102. A lead 18 may be provided to enable the controller 105 to adjust the pressure regulator 3. In alternative embodiments the measuring devices may each be associated with a respective fuel-flow indicator and the equalization of the flows is made manually by throttle valves (10), Fig. 1 (not shown), each arranged in a respective one of the lines (4, 5, 6). Alternatively, each line (4, 5, 6) may be supplied by a respective volumetric injection pump and fuel-flow equalization is achieved via manual adjusting elements (84), Fig. 8 (not shown), controlling inlet throttle valves or delivery control racks of the pumps. The system may be arranged so that the necessary alteration of the fuel-flows to the injectors due to an engine load change, or the equalization of these fuel-flows may be achieved by adjustment of the fuel pressure or the period of fuel injection. The fuel-flow measuring device comprises a pair of gears 21, Fig. 2, rotated by the flowing fuel, and a sensing element 22 which magnetically senses the speed of rotation of the gears by induction or capacitative effects. The sensing element may be an electrical coil fed with an A. C. current to form pulses as the gear teeth move across it, the housing 20 and the gears being of insulating material and the ends of the gear teeth being of an electrically conductive material. Alternatively, the sensing element comprises an electromagnetic coil with a core and the housing and gears are of non-magnetic material and ferromagnetic material respectively.
