PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyvinyl alcohol film for a polarizing film with little unnecessary coloring and useful as a raw material for a polarizing film, a method for manufacturing it and the polarizing film. SOLUTION: The polyvinyl alcohol film for the polarizing film contains <=0.5 wt.% alkali metal compound with respect to the polyvinyl alcohol. The polyvinyl alcohol film for the polarizing film is formed by using a polyvinyl alcohol raw material containing <=0.5 wt.% alkali metal compound with respect to the polyvinyl alcohol.
