A low-temperature fuel cell system capable of decomposing and removing of toxic by-products, such as formaldehyde, occurring at an anodic reaction to at least such a level that even if emitted into the atmospheric air, they would have no harmful influence on humans and environments, so that the wastegas can be directly emitted into the atmospheric air. There is provided a low-temperature fuel cell system including a low-temperature fuel cell and means for decomposing and removing of toxic by-products generated by an anode of the low-temperature fuel cell, characterized in that the means is disposed in contact with the reaction fluid derived from the anode and/or the wastegas separated from the reaction fluid.
