Movable diaphragm leaf focussing device for radiation systems - permitting a compact and plastic construction which is both relatively cheap and accurate

A focussing device for a radiation system having at least one diaphragm leaf (1,2) which is swingable within a plane perpendicular to the central beam (I2) of a radiation emitter around an axle (13,14). A hinge (3,4) has its first part fixed to the diaphragm leaf (1,2) and its other end fastened to the focus device housing. Swinging of the diaphragm leaf (1,2) is controlled by a positioning device (19). This is connected to a rod (15,16) which engages a guiding rail (17,18). The other end of the rod (15,16) engages the diaphragm leaf (1,2). USE/ADVANTAGE - The focussing device is for fine focussing of a radiation bundle on a test object. To this end the leaves are normally arranged in pairs to form a rectangular or square aperture. By use of hinge no penetration through the outer housing of the focussing device are necessary. This permits a more compact and much cheaper construction, especially if the hinging arrangements are of plastic.
