PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compact and inexpensive glide head which is easily assembled and has high detection sensitivity so that a protrusion having a small diameter can be detected, small difference of voltages generated at right and left rails and small influence of a lead line on a floating roll angle. SOLUTION: A piezo-electric element is fixed to an effluence side of a slider and an electrode surface of the piezo-electric element is provided in a slider width direction. The detection sensitivity is increased and the difference between voltages generated at right and left rails can be reduced by making the interval between a protrusion detection part and the piezo-electric element small and eliminating interval difference between the piezo-electric element and the right and the left rails. Floating roll angle distribution can be made small by taking out the lead line in the slider width direction and the compact and inexpensive glide head which can be easily assembled can be obtained.
