PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and compositions for inhibiting viral nucleic acid polymerases such as RNA polymerases and DNA polymerases, as well as methods and compositions useful for treating viral infection in a subject.SOLUTION: The invention is directed to methods and compositions for inhibiting viral nucleic acid polymerases such as RNA polymerases and DNA polymerases, and methods and compositions useful for treating viral infection in a subject. These methods comprise administering to a subject a composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of Formula I or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or hydrate thereof and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
