FRINGE FIELD SWITCHING LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY WITHOUT HAVING LIGHT LEAKAGE

PURPOSE: A fringe field switching liquid crystal display without having light leakage is provided to maintain satisfactory normally black state and to improve aperture ratio of a liquid crystal display. CONSTITUTION: A fringe field switching liquid crystal display without having light leakage includes a unit pixel formed at the intersection of a gate line(209) and a data line(207) on a lower substrate, a thin film transistor(202) formed near the intersection, and a counter electrode formed in a plate shape on a gate insulating layer within the unit pixel. The liquid crystal display further includes a common electrode(201) coming into contact with a predetermined portion of the edge of the counter electrode and transmitting a common signal, a passivation layer coated on the common electrode to protect the lower substrate, and a pixel electrode(205) causing fringe field together with the counter electrode.
