PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of water hammering in a water supply pipe when a water inlet valve is closed in supplying city water to a water reservoir. SOLUTION: In a cup type vending machine, the water reservoir carried on the cut type vending machine for storing drinking water delivered to each drink system in the machine is provided with first and second water inlet valves disposed in series in the water supply pipe in the machine piped in a space up to the city water pipe, and in response to the water supply request (signal of high level switch) from the water reservoir, the water inlet valves are opened and closed. In closing the water inlet valves, the control is conducted so that according to a signal of the high level switch, the first upstream water inlet valve near the city water pipe is closed, and with a little time lag, the second water inlet valve is closed later, whereby water supply pressure is released to the water reservoir side to prevent the occurrence of water hammering in the water supply pipe in the machine.
