The terminal is for use with electric sockets, switches and small electrical appliances and has a narrow shape to reduce space requirements that is sufficient to provide a secure fixture for the inserted holder and thus to ensure against inadvertent withdrawal of the holder. To this end, the control mechanism or dolly and the spring clip are arranged in the wiring plane, so that a very narrow design is realised. The width of the spring can correspond to the maximum thickness of the conductor wire (8) to be inserted into this terminal. The barbed end of the spring clip is positioned between the insertion orifice and the inner end of the dolly, and the bow-shaped end of the spring clip is braced against a rigid sloping surface of the housing.
