An image display device and method for displaying a fan operation state are provided to enhance user convenience by enabling a working crew to easily monitor an aging process by displaying an OSD(On Screen Display) message on an image display device. An image display device includes at least one fan, at least one fan driver(110-1~110-4), a controller(120), and an output unit(140). The fan driver drives the fan and outputs a predetermined pulse signal corresponding to the operation state of the fan. The controller determines whether the fan operates according to the level of the pulse signal, which is outputted from the fan driver. The output unit displays a predetermined message on a screen according to the determined result from the controller, so that the operation state of the respective fans is informed. An input unit(130) receives an aging mode select signal. When the aging mode select signal is received, the controller determines that the fan is operating if the level of the pulse signal is a low level.
