<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic musical instrument which simultaneously reproduces an audio signal and a music information digital signal of MIDI etc. and in which the sound volume of both can be adjusted by a single operation. <P>SOLUTION: The sound volume adjustment value v' obtained by subjecting the manipulated variable of a volume operator 13 to characteristic conversion is multiplied to an audio signal a(t) and MIDI modulation signal (t). A demodulation section 21 demodulates the multiplied MIDI modulation signal v'xm(t) to MIDI modulation data. An envelope detection section 22 detects an envelope from the multiplied MIDI modulation signal v'xm(t) and calculates a sound volume adjustment value v'. A reverse conversion section 23a operates the reverse conversion of the characteristic conversion with respect to v' and thereby sound volume information is created. The sound volume information reflection section 25 rewrites the velocity of the MIDI data based on the created sound volume information. A performance section 26 performs playing based on the MIDI data with rewritten velocity.
