PURPOSE:To obviate the peeling of a coating film by removing a fluoride film to expose a metallic base just prior to painting, then subjecting the exposed surface to painting. CONSTITUTION:A metallic sheet 10 is charged into a heat treating furnace 1. Gaseous fluorine is introduced from a cylinder 14 into an inside vessel 4 of the furnace 1. The vessel is heated to a reaction temp. by a heater 3. The surface to be coated of the metallic sheet 10 is held in a heated state in a gaseous fluorine atmosphere and a fluoride film is formed on the surface to be coated. The fluoride formed on the surface to be coated of the metallic sheet 10 is removed to expose the metal base just prior to the painting. This exposed surface is subjected to the painting. The exposed surface is cleaned and activated in this way so that a coating material is liable to stick thereto in a subsequent painting stage. |
