PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the performance of a CPU by preventing a wait cycle from being inserted. SOLUTION: A read circuit 21 of a sound source part generates read addresses of all channels when generating a musical sound and reads waveform sample data needed for the respective channels out of a WP-PROM(wave program read-only memory) 2 and an interpolating circuit performs interpolation to generate waveform sample data corresponding to the read addresses. At this time, when the total frequency of access to the WP-ROM 2 exceeds a limited frequency, extrapolation is applied to reduce the total frequency of access. Consequently, a wait cycle is prevented from being inserted when the CPU 11 accesses the WP-ROM 2. |
