<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone system in which a decision can be made readily whether a portable telephone has failed or not and the content of failure record can be grasped by a firm without bringing the portable telephone body into a service station of the firm. <P>SOLUTION: User's portable telephone 3 transmits a signal containing set information and a failure record (content) to a firm or transmits the failure record upon occurrence of a failure. A user portable telephone setting server 6 stores the information and an operator of the firm diagnoses the portable telephone 3 based on that information and then informs the results of diagnosis, the content of failure, a countermeasure, and the like, to the user. If the portable telephone 3 is set erroneously, the set content stored in the user portable telephone setting server 6 is rewritten through operation by the operator.
