<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document registration support method and device, and a program, capable of suitably and easily selecting documents to be registered in a dictionary used in a document discriminating device or the like and supporting registration of the documents. <P>SOLUTION: A feature amount extract part 54 extracts the feature amount of ruled lines from an image obtained by reading a document, and a classification processing part 5 classifies the image by each document classification according to the extracted feature amount. The classification result is statistically processed by a statistical processing part 56 to select the document to be registered.
