PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive key material with high assembling work efficiency because a head part of a key plate can be inserted in an insertion hole of a cover for assembly after assembling a case, which holds an electronic component, to a case holding part without carrying out molding. SOLUTION: The key material comprises a case 16 holding the electronic component (an IC tag 26); a key plate 10 having a blade part 11 formed with a preset key code 12, and a head part 13 formed with a case holding part 14 for holding the case 16; and a cover 22 covering the head part 13 and the case 16. The cover 22 is formed in annular shape with an insertion hole 23 formed to insert the head part 13 of the key plate 10 so as to be located inside. The case 16 is provided with protruding parts 19 abutting on the inserting direction tip edge of the cover 22 to the key plate 10 to regulate the inserting direction movement of the cover 22.
