PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a life of a nonvolatile memory is required to be extended by reducing the number of write times as much as possible because the nonvolatile member has a limitation on the number of write times although the number of printing times of each pin of a printing head part is confirmed for every line, and the number of times not smaller than a predetermined value in the number of printing times is stored as a superior number of printing times for each pin to the nonvolatile memory in a method for recording the number of printing times of head pins in a conventional serial dot impact printer. SOLUTION: In the method for recording the number of printing times of head pins in the serial dot impact printer, a data configuration of a storage part which is constituted of the nonvolatile memory for storing the number of printing times of head pins is changed, whereby the number of write times to the nonvolatile memory is reduced. The life of the nonvolatile memory is extended greatly.
