PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat mode compatible image forming material, having a high sensitivity and excellent in image forming property, as well as a new infrared lay absorbing coloring matter employed optimally for the material. SOLUTION: An image forming layer, containing infrared ray absorbing agent having at least one kind of surface orientating group in the molecule of the same and changing the solubility to alkaline water solution by the effect of radiation in a near infrared area, is provided on a substrate. The infrared lay absorbing agent is preferable to have a fluorine-containing substituting group, such as the fluorinecontaining substituting group having the number of carbon atom of 5 or more or a polymethine chain having the number of carbon atom of 5 or more and the surface orientating group selected from a long chain alkyl group or the like such as the same having the alkyl group having the number of carbon atom of 8 or more and connected to the polymethine chain through either one of nitrogen, oxygen or sulfur. |
