<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of a catalyst caused by flowing of high temperature gas into the catalyst layer for selective oxidation of carbon monoxide when a fuel-reforming system becomes a hot stop state. <P>SOLUTION: Carbon monoxide removal equipment is equipped with a first blocking means 1a which is positioned upstream of the catalyst layer 7 and optionally opens/blocks a gas passageway, a water-absorbing/evaporating means 3 which is positioned upstream of the first blocking means 1a and absorbs/releases moisture present within a reforming gas and a second blocking means 1b which is positioned downstream the catalyst layer 7 and optionally opens/blocks a reforming gas passageway. When the fuel-reforming system is shut down, the blocking means 1a and 1b blocks the gas passageway connected to the outside of the carbon monoxide removal equipment 57 to prevent the high-temperature gas from flowing into the equipment. When the system is started from a cold stop state, the water-absorbing/evaporating means 3 absorbs mist or water droplets present within the reforming gas to prevent dew condensation in the catalyst layer 7, and a catalyst action of the carbon monoxide removal equipment is quickly started. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
