PURPOSE: To control enable signals by individual blocks by one index register by connecting the outputs of an index register to respective register blocks. CONSTITUTION: One of the outputs of a 4×16 decoder is applied to the index register 1 and one of the register blocks 2 is chip-enabled by the output. When four address pins are used, the total number of the registers which can be controlled by the register 1 of 16 bits becomes 15×16=240. Then, 16 output signals are generated from four address input signals by the 4×16 decoder and the output of one register is controlled with one output. When the registers of the respective blocks 2 are designated, multiple chips can be controlled and the number of pins can be reduced at the time of designing the chips. Then, integration can be improved.
