PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image signal synthesizer which can realize a widened dynamic range while a high S/N is maintained. SOLUTION: A long exposure image signal with a long exposure time and a short exposure image signal with a short exposure time are used as input signals. This image signal synthesizer has a means which separates high frequency components and low frequency components of the respective exposure signals from each other, has a means which apply gain control to the respective high frequency components and the respective low frequency components individually, and obtain respective summations to generate an image signal with a widened dynamic range.
