<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the serviceability for users by automatically changing the joint operation of a master and slave units in an image forming apparatus, if either power source stops during the joint operation in the relation of the master-slave units. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus connected to a network through a wire cable 702, a master unit 700 for reading and printing an original image and a slave unit 701 for receiving image data sent from the master unit 700 and sharing the printing thereof constitute a joint printing relation. When the master unit 700 is switched off in the middle of printing in a joint state, the slave unit 701 cancels this reservation and advances a following reservation to preferentially process it. If the slave unit 701 is switched off, the master unit 700 cancels the joint thereof and returns to a state for executing a usual single sheet printing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
