PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording apparatus that is able to reduce a density difference caused between recorded images in the beginning of use of an ink cartridge and those in the end of use of the ink cartridge, and that is able to shorten waiting time for recording due to agitation.SOLUTION: An ink cartridge 1 comprises a communication part that allows communication between space located outside a housing 2 and an ink storage chamber 11. The communication part 22 comprises: a communication port 8 formed in an external face of a housing; a confluent channel 200 one end of which communicates with the communication port; and a plurality of branch channels one end of each of which communicates with the confluent channel and the other end of each of which communicates with the ink storage chamber. Each branch channel comprises a first channel 210 communicating with a lower-layer area in the ink storage chamber; and a second branch channel 220 communicating with an upper-layer area. When ink flows reversely, ink flowing out from the confluent channel separately branches into a first branch channel and the second branch channel. At this time, the ratio (Q1/Q2) of ink flow rate (Q1) in the branch channel 210 to ink flow rate (Q2) in the second branch channel 220, during ink supply is smaller than that during ink reverse flow operation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 |
