PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device provided with a dimming means, which is provided with a cooling means which efficiently cools the dimming means and an adjacent optical system to protect them from heat loss and has the smaller number of parts and enables reduction of the power consumption and noise. SOLUTION: The projection type display device which has an optical modulation element illuminated by light from a light source and projects light modulated by the optical modulation element on a projection object face to form a projection image on the projection object face is provided with the dimming means for adjusting the brightness of the projection image, and a space is formed between the dimming means and an adjacent optical element, and a means for ventilating this space is provided. |
