PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a member and a method for suppressing riverbed erosion that promotes capturing and accumulation of sand gravel by efficiently raising riverbed roughness for suppressing riverbed erosion, at the same time increasing places for inhabitation and egg-laying by fishes.SOLUTION: A member 1 for suppressing riverbed erosion is installed on a riverbed for suppressing erosion of the riverbed, and includes a plurality of sand gravel capturing areas 3 partitioned in a net form when seen in a planar view. A height of a sand gravel capturing wall 2 that surrounds each of the sand gravel capturing areas 3 is set to be 0.88 times or greater of an average grain size of the sand gravel at the riverbed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
