In the mfr. of a glass optic fibre, which is covered by one or more coatings from a liq. polymer supply, the fibre is forced through an additional and defined gas flow after the first coating has been applied, and before further coatings are added. Also claimed is an appts. with a fibre guide tube and gas suction connection before the second coating station and each subsequent coating station. USE/ADVANTAGE - The method is for the prodn. of glass optic fibres, with one or more coatings to prevent micro bending. The technique gives homogenous and consistent coating thicknesses, when the fibre material is travelling through the assembly at high speed and through a number of coating stations.
