COOLER AND COOLING METHOD FOR VARIABLE FREQUENCY DRIVER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cool a heat sink and an electronic output part easily at low cost in a small installation area by controlling expansion of refrigerant through a control valve. SOLUTION: An electronic output part of a variable frequency driver(VFD) 25 is fixed directly to a heat sink 30. The heat sink 30 is made of a block having a high thermal conductivity in order to remove and absorb thermal energy generated from the electronic output part quickly. An inner flow channel 32 is fixed in the block. A control valve 40 is provided in a supply pipe line 36 and refrigerant expands from a high pressure to a lower pressure of a condenser 13 through the supply pipe line 36 and low temperature refrigerant for cooling the electronic output part is supplied to the heat sink 30. The heat sink 30 functions as a refrigerant evaporator for the VFD 25 and cooling of the electronic output part is controlled directly by removing heat from the VFD 25 utilizing refrigeration cycle.
