PURPOSE:To select a desired disk from a rack where plural disks are housed by means of plural disk selection units and to drive it by a recording medium driving device. CONSTITUTION:A device 1 for automatically selecting a recording medium is provided with the rack 11 where plural disks are housed, a disk driving unit 30 for driving the disk, and a disk selecting unit 70 for selecting the desired disk, which are made up as one set and plurally prepared. The desired disk selected by the unit 70 is taken out from the rack 11 to a disk carrying unit 20 common to respective sets, and the disk is driven by the unit 30 of each set at ordinary time. Rapid countermeasure is taken at unordinay time when the unit 70 of any set is not used and/or in case of emergency that the unit 30 of any set gets out of order. |
