The invention concerns a method of improving ABS control behaviour, a special or cornering-control mode being activated when cornering is detected, instead of the standard control mode. The special or cornering-control mode reduces the braking pressure on the front wheel and/or rear wheel on the inside of the bend. In the partial braking range, when a threshold value (th1, th2) of a wheel speed difference (SD) is exceeded - the wheel speed difference (SD) representing the difference between the wheel speed totals on each side of a vehicle, the totals being formed from the speeds of the two wheels on one side of the vehicle - the braking pressure build-up gradient on the wheel on the inside of the bend is reduced as a function of the extent by which the threshold value (th1, th2) is exceeded.
