PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water leakage position detecting apparatus for an endoscope, which detects a position of occurrence of water leakage. SOLUTION: An electronic endoscope system 10 includes dew condensation sensors 31a-31f at two or more regions in an endoscope 20 having an airtight structure. The position of the water leakage is detected on the basis of signals detected by the dew condensation sensors 31a-31f and the position of the sensor which detects the water leakage. A monitor 50 displays a warning to identify the detected position of the water leakage. An image of a subject which is displayed on the monitor 50 becomes dark by attenuating the illumination light which is supplied to the endoscope 20 when the moisture is sensed.
