An electrophoretic display device and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to suppress the deterioration of picture quality due to crosstalk or vibration of pixel voltage generated in an electronic paper, by forming an air gap in an insulating layer correspondingly to a gate line and a data line. A gate line is formed on a lower substrate(111). A gate insulating layer(117) and an active layer are formed on the resultant substrate including the gate line. A data line(121) is disposed on the gate insulating layer across the gate line. A source electrode and a drain electrode are disposed to face each other on the active layer. An insulating layer(125) is formed on the resultant substrate including the data line, the source electrode, and the drain electrode. The insulating layer has an air gap(129) at a region corresponding to the data line and the gate line. A pixel electrode(131) is formed on the insulating layer, and connected with the drain electrode. An electrophoretic film(135) is formed on the resultant substrate including the pixel electrode. |
