A method and system for controlling access to a computer device. The method and system involves operating a computer device to control access to the computer device by a host system. The method comprises determining if the host system is authorized to have access to the computer device; operating the computer device to start a session if and only if the host system is authorized to have access to the computer device; during the session, providing the host system with access to the computer device; operating the computer device to monitor the host system during the session to determine if a session termination event has occurred; and, terminating the session when the session termination event has occurred, wherein terminating the session blocks access to the computer device by the host system.

1. A method of operating a computer component to control access to a first computer component by a second computer component, the method comprising:
determining if the second computer component is authorized to have access to the first computer component; operating the first computer component to start a session if and only if the second computer component is authorized to have access to the first computer component; generating session-specific access instructions and storing the session-specific access instructions at the first computer component and the second computer component, wherein the session-specific access instructions generated for the session are different from session-specific access instructions for accessing the first computer component generated for other sessions; during the session, providing the second computer component with access to the first computer component; during the session, operating the second computer component according to the session-specific access instructions; operating the first computer component to monitor the second computer component during the session, including at some times when the second computer component is active but is not accessing the first computer component, for compliance with the session-specific access instructions; determining a session termination event has occurred if the first computer component determines that the second computer component has failed to comply with the session specific instructions; and, terminating the session when the session termination event has occurred, wherein terminating the session blocks access to the first computer component by the second computer component.
