Reinforced structure for vehicle bodies or containers

The bodywork structure is used in a road vehicle or a railway vehicle or may form the outer skin of a tank containing a liquid. The material used for constructing the body or skin may consist of plastics reinforced with glass fibres. The skin may be reinforced by frames running vertically and horizontally. The wall of the vehicle or container has a hard outer skin (1) reinforced with glass fibres. The skin has a gradually increasing thickness on approaching the frames, formed by fillets attached to the frames. There is a liquid-tight foil (16) on the inside of the skin. A hollow core profile (4) fits inside the U-shaped frame member. There are further profiles (8) on the outside of the frame member which engage the edges of blocks of insulation material (12) which fit between the frames.
