Use of pigment preparations containing (a) at least one finely divided pigment, (b) at least one copolymer having a molecular weight of 500 to 20,000 g/mol obtainable by free-radical polymerisation of ( alpha 1) C8- to C40-monoolefins or ( alpha 2) C8- to C40-alkyl vinyl ethers or ( alpha 3) mixtures of C8- to C40-alkyl vinyl ethers and up to 50 mol% of C8- to C40-monoolefins with ( beta ) monoethylenically unsaturated C4- to C12-dicarboxylic acids or- dicarboxylic anhydrides whose carboxyl or anhydride groups can be completely or partially reacted with ammonia, amines, alcohols, amino- or hydroxycarboxylic acids or alkali metal or alkaline earth metal hydroxides, (c) if appropriate other auxiliaries customary in pigment preparations, for the manufacture of pastes, printing inks and paints and novel pigment preparations.
