PURPOSE: A wireless communication system for supplying traffic information of a base station and a method therefor are provided to enable a BSC to include current traffic information in a message to send the message through a base station, so that a wireless communication terminal can extract the traffic information from the message to output the information for a user, thereby reducing traffic congestion. CONSTITUTION: A BSC generates traffic parameters of base stations from collected traffic information(200), inserts the traffic parameters into an overhead message, and controls the base stations to send the overhead message including the traffic parameters(201). The base stations send the overhead message(202). If a mobile communication terminal receives the overhead message(203), the terminal extracts a parameter showing the traffic information(204), and outputs the traffic information of the base stations to an output device(205).
