PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide rail for a counterweight in an elevator, capable of reducing cost by reducing the number of unit guide rails used, and omitting installation work for the reduced number. SOLUTION: This guide rail for a counterweight is provided in a pair, and it is erected in an elevator shaft to guide a counterweight device in the elevator. In at least either of the guide rails for the counterweight, a gap having prescribed length in the length direction is provided. When the counterweight device elevates in the elevator shaft, guide shoes provided on both sides of the counterweight are constantly engaged with it at least at three points of their upper and lower parts.
