PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the size of an image forming apparatus from increasing due to liquid ejecting heads being provided additionally as the kind of ink to be used increases. SOLUTION: The inventive apparatus for forming an image on a print medium with liquid drops being ejected from the ejection opening 16 of an ink jet head 15 comprises a plurality of subtanks 20a, 20b fixed integrally to the ink jet head 15 and storing liquids A, B being supplied thereto, a valve 21 interposed between the subtanks 20a, 20b and the ink jet head 15 and switched between a plurality of tank conducting positions for conducting any one of the subtanks 20a, 20b with the ink jet head 15 and a position for conducting the ink jet head 15 with the atmosphere, and a pump 35 for sucking liquid in the ink jet head 15 from the ejection opening 16 under a state where the switching valve 21 is at the position conducting with the atmosphere. |
