Disclosed are a device and a method which allow the combustion in a combustion chamber (BR) of a furnace or an internal combustion engine to come closer to being complete. In order to be able to do so, the gaseous fuel-air mixture or one of the components thereof is enriched with a suitable concentration of radicals and ions by means of a plasma generator (PG) before being introduced into the combustion chamber (BR).
