PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle surrounding-monitoring device capable of enhancing effect of informing by reducing unnecessary informing to a driver. SOLUTION: The vehicle surrounding monitoring device 1 includes a detection area setting part 13, an obstacle detection part 18, and an informing determination part 15. The the detection area setting part 13 sets three detection areas different in size according to the distance from a vehicle on an expected course of the vehicle in a camera image based on steering information of the vehicle and information of camera installing conditions. The obstacle detection part 18 provides image processing for each of the three detection areas and detects an obstacle in the detection area. The informing determination part 15 determines whether the detection informing of the obstacle is performed or not based on the distance from the vehicle of the detection area in which the obstacle is detected.
