PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant resin composition which, when used as a sheath material for electric wires, cables, or their connection parts, exhibits high flame retardance and can decrease the acidity of a gas generated during burning. SOLUTION: This resin composition is prepared by compounding 100 pts.wt. olefin resin with 5-100 pts.wt. hydrotalcite, 60-200 pts.wt. inorganic flame retardant, and, if necessary, an antioxidant.
